Fresh off a strong performace at Road America, the AMSOIL-sponsored Erik
Buell Racing team led by Geoff May and Aaron Yates look to find continued
success at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend.
Despite a bad crash that took May out of the race on Sunday, the AMSOIL/Hero/EBR team found three top ten finishes at Road America in early June. This weekend, the team looks to build on what they started.
“Luckily I came away from the crash without a scratch," said May. "The bike didn't fare as well, though. We had changed the settings from Saturday, and knew we were going to do much better. The bike was working great, but the settings were optimized for after the tires were more worn. I just was too hungry to catch the guys in front of me early on, and didn’t wait for the set-up to come in.”
“Thanks to everyone that was worried about my well-being.” Geoff added, who picked up a pair of fourth place finishes at Barber in 2012. “I like Barber, love the 1190RS, and am excited for this upcoming weekend.”
May is joined by Aaron Yates under the AMSOIL/Hero awning, and the populer, former AMA champion is making a his return to full-time action on an AMA Superbike after an injury derailed his career in 2010.
“I have been very lucky to have a great career in AMA Superbike," said Yates. "For 2013, it is really exciting not only to be back, but to be part of the actual factory team developing an America Superbike – something we have always needed in this class.”
“I can’t wait to race on a track that really suits the bike and my style,” says Yates. “I’ll be riding hard, and the EBR is ready to go.”
